Membership in the Idaho Junior Rodeo Association is open to youth 0-16 in the state of Idaho upon paid membership and verification of age.

Membership forms must be signed by all participants and all participant helpers.  Parent/Guardian signatures must be notarized.

Age groups are divided into three divisions; 0-8, 9-12, and 13-16 with both boys divisions and girls divisions in each.  Age is calculated as of January 1 of the current year.  Contestants cannot compete in more than one age group.  Contestants can compete in an older age group if desired.  Birth Certificates must be provided.

Fees - Membership fees are $50 per participant or $100 per family.  Each participant must also provide a sponsor.  Sponsor donations must be at least $25 per participant.  Sponsorship provides for year-end awards.

Dates - Membership forms are generally available after February 1 or as soon as arena locations and dates are confirmed.  Past members are assessed a $20 late fee if not registered by April 1.  The membership cap (limit) is 180 families.  Past members are given precedence until the April 1 deadline.  After April 1, the remaining slots are filled first come-first served.

IJRA provides five rodeos each season during the months of June and July.  Dates and locations are determined at the annual general membership meeting held each November.  All members and prospective members are invited to attend the general membership meeting.  Regular season rodeos begin at 8:00 a.m. and are single day events.  The order of events varies with each rodeo.

Contestants compete for points towards year-end awards.  Each rodeo also provides a day buckle for first place, a gift certificate for second place, and in events containing more than 30 contestants, a gift certificate for third place.

Year-end awards consist of buckles and prizes for the top four places and gift certificates for the remaining one-third contestants. (example-if there are 33 contestants in the goat ribbon pull event, awards will be given to the top 11 contestants).  All-around awards are also given for each age division for one boy and one girl.

In addition, the top ten point earners in each event are invited to attend the Championship Showdown held at the Eastern Idaho State Fair in September.

Entries - all entries are on a pre-paid method.  Due dates are two weeks prior to the rodeo - to be paid and received by the secretary.  Late entries are accepted for one week, with a $10 late fee per contestant. Fees are $14, $18, and $28 for each event/per rodeo, depending on the event.
